۷Berkeh – Negin Akrami, Hooshang Jamshidi: Students of several schools in Gerash experienced happy moments playing traditional games in Traditional Sports Festival. The Association of Traditional and Rural Sports and the department of physical education intend to continue holding this festival in other schools in the future.
“Traditional Sports Festival is one of the programs that is emphasized by Fars Department of Education,” declares Mohsen Afshar of physical education unit in Gerash Department of Education, “and the main goal is students’ becoming familiar with culture, customs and values besides their feeling of vitality and happiness.”
According to Mr. Afshar, these people have the main roles in holding the festival in Gerash: Abolhassan Zarei, the president of the Association of Traditional and Rural Sports; Mohammad Hassan Roostaei, the author of Traditional Games of Gerash (۱۳۸۴, Hamsayeh Publications); and Razieh Matin, the vice-president of the Association.
“We should use the potentials of schools to revive these games,” says Ms. Matin, “in addition to being effective in the fitness of students, traditional games have a significant impression on families’ feeling of vitality and happiness.”
