Gerishna: Sadegh Rahmani, the nationally acclaimed poet and journalist, was appointed the director of Culture Radio (Radio Farhang), the second most-heard radio in Iran. Mr. Rahmani was born in Gerash 49 years ago, and still has a great influence on the cultural and literary activities of Gerash, especially from the position of Managing Director of Haft Berkeh Cultural Institute.
Rahmani has worked in Culture Radio for 15 years, and was the chief editor of Cultural Studies section of this radio for several years. Last year he was appointed the director of Saba (meaning morning) Radio, a newly established radio station, and made a huge success. The merging of this station in Culture Radio due to the wide changes in the management of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting elevated Mr. Rahmani to the position of the director of the Culture Radio.
Sadegh Rahmani’s complete name is Mohammad Sadegh Rahmanian, but he prefers to publish under the shorter name. He belongs to the generation of Revolution poets, and has published several poetry collections including Pomegranate and Louver (including his most famous poems in local language), Everything is Blue, In This Calm Night, and also Greens, Reds which introduced a new form in Persian poetry called “Rubaiy Nimai”. He has received many awards and honors, including Fajr Poetry Festival life achievement for his 30 years of poetry.
