Bringing up social and political issues is inevitable when a nationally well-known figure like the temporary Friday Prayer Imam of Tehran, Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami is the guest; although the main reason for the invitation is to deliver a sermon on “Ghadir”.
Ayatollah Khatami had a busy schedule in Gerash for two days beginning from November 2nd. The morning he arrived, he had a session with religious and university students in Paramedical School amphitheater, in which he touched on two controversial economic and political issues.
After this session, Ayatollah Khatami accompanied people and students in the demonstrations against Imperialism of America. In the afternoon, he had an undisclosed talk with members of Basij, which was presumably about economic and social issues for the most part.
Ayatollah Khatami preached in A’zam Hosseinieh on the subject of Ghadir. In these sermons he pointed out the most salient traits of Imam Ali, and stated that “Ghadir is not just a day. Today Ghadir is incarnated in Wilayat al-Faqih.”
