He also talked about “Circles of the Righteous”, a project carried out in mosques all over the country in which students, the youth and other groups of people form groups and hold discussions on religious, political, cultural and scientific issues under the guidance of Basij members and clerics, and take part in various recreational and sportive activities. Major Meftah said that in the last two years, the number of these Circles has risen from 70 to 250; and more than 8 percent of Gerashi people participate in them. He said that organizing the youth on the internet, and creating a useful library consisting of books, films, pictures and other documents about the martyrs of Gerash are among his future plans.

Major Meftah declared that the duties of Basij and the Revolutionary Guards has turned in recent years towards cultural and economic issues. Following this necessity, arising from the “Soft War” and also harsh sanctions against Iran, Basij is granting small-scale loans to families. “Our view here and now is creating a culture based on “Resistive Economics” (as decreed by the Supreme Leader), in order to save families from the fluctuations of the economy.”

Major Hamid Meftah is from Estahban, a city in the east of Fars. He came to Gerash in the summer of 2011. Less than a year later, in May 2012, he replaced Colonel Farzaneh as the commander of Basij Resistance District in Gerash.
